Hymns in Worship--Part Two

Here is an awesome modern hymn of worship we will be doing this Sunday. Sing it through a couple of times...check out the words below--I am reminded daily of Christ's great sacrifice that gives us life.

THE POWER OF THE CROSS

Oh to see the dawn of the darkest day,

Christ on the road to Calvary, tried by sinful men,

Torn and beaten then, nailed to a cross of wood.

This the power of the cross, Christ became sin for us,

Took the blame, bore the wrath, we stand forgiven at the Cross.

Oh to see the pain, written on Your face, bearing the awesome weight of sin.

Every bitter thought, every evil deed, crowning Your bloodstained brow.

Now the daylight flees, now the ground beneath, quakes as its Maker bows His head.

Curtain torn in two, dead are raised to life, finished the victory cry.

Oh to see my name, written in the wounds, for through Your suffering I am free.

Death is crushed to death, life is mine to live, won through Your selfless love.

This the power, of the Cross, Son of God, slain for us, what a love, what a cost, we stand forgiven at the cross.

by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend. I came across these guys by the recommendation of a Scottish Presbyterian Pastor, Derek Thomas, during our time in Spain. He highly recommended their music as a means of infusing fresh hymnody into modern services.

how do you sing that song and not get emotional..... I love this.... i will watch this every day until Church.... it cuts to the core of your being and I am so thankful for the cross and that Christ died for me, so amazing, so wonderful... Praise the Lord that he is the same yesterday, today and forever.....

A wonderful song, went deep into my heart. So much hurt each day, and then this gift. A balm for my aching heart. Thank you so much, God bless you always. See you on Sunday!
